Taupo Medical is working under Level One Covid related restrictions. It is vital that patients phone first (we understand demand is high and phone wait times can be long, unfortunately it's a bit like the supermarket lines presently).  If nonurgent you can leave a message on the voice mail service. Please don't simply walk up to the clinic unless urgent.

How do I get a repeat prescription?

If you are registered with my indici™ you can log on and arrange for a repeat prescription or you can telephone one of our nurses (between 8.30am - 5.00pm) or email nurse@taupomed.co.nz

Doctors like to check all repeat prescriptions to make sure the treatment is still correct so please allow a full working day before you need the prescription.

Can I ask about my relatives?

Patient confidentiality means we're not allowed to discuss a patient without their permission.  If you have your relative's permission you can make an appointment to discuss your concerns with a GP, (your relative will be asked to fill in a form giving their authority for you to access your medical records).

Can I change or see another doctor?

You are free to see other doctors either within or outside the practice. If you see a doctor at another practice you will be a 'casual patient' and may be charged an additional fee.    If you wish to change practices you will need to complete an enrolment form at your new practice.

What is an NHI Number?

A national health index number (NHI) is a unique identifier that is assigned to every person who uses health and disability support services in New Zealand. For more information please click here

How long are appointments?

A standard GP appointment is 10 to 15 minutes long.  To get the most from your appointment it's best to discuss one issue at a time at the consultation. If you feel there is more than one issue or you require more time for discussion, it's best to book a longer appointment time.

Can I see a nurse?

Yes. Our nurses are fully trained to carry out a range of specialist treatments including: wound care, dressings, removal of stitches, blood tests, emergency contraception, ECGs, cervical smears & STI checks, plastering & splinting, immunisations, CVRA, pregnancy tests, flu vaccines, blood pressure checks, healthy lifestyle advice, Aclasta infusion.
